Biography
Traditional Japanese Tattoo Artistry With over 20 years of experience, Levi Polzin has dedicated his career to perfecting the ancient art of Japanese tattooing. His journey began in Minnesota, where he completed his apprenticeship and started tattooing traditional motifs. Seeking to learn from the best, Levi moved to Seattle and spent formative years at the renowned Slave to the Needle studio under owner Aaron Bell. There he honed his talents capturing the intricate details of dragons, warriors, waves and flowers in the Irezumi style. Levi’s talents have taken him from coast to coast, tattooing skin in diverse shops across Los Angeles, New York, Santa Fe and beyond. Now residing at our tattoo studio since January 2024, his traditional Japanese talents add an enriching new dimension. With two decades mastering traditional techniques, Levi has become a scholar in the iconography, history and lineage of Irezumi. His pieces reflect a deep understanding of Japanese design elements, how they work together, and Japanese motifs. While Japanese tattooing is his specialty, Levi also crafts rich contemporary pieces in realism, lettering and more. Outside the studio, surfing, writing fiction, and spending time with his young daughter balance his artistic drive. For a traditional Japanese tattoo from an artist immersed in this ancient craft, look no further than Levi.
