Does Getting a Tattoo Hurt?

It depends on your tolerance for pain and what you consider painful. However, in general, most people are able to tolerate the discomfort and find that it is a small price to pay for something that they will be proud to wear on their body. During the tattoo process ink is placed in the dermis, the second layer of skin, therefore, minor discomfort should be expected. Most people report that getting a tattoo feels like a sunburn but with proper care and by following after care instructions provided by our San Diego tattoo artist, all discomfort should subside within a few days.

How much does getting a tattoo in San Diego cost?

Tattoo prices depend on many factors, including the size and design of your tattoo, as well as the artist’s experience and expertise. It is very important to note that the tattoo you are getting is something you will wear for the rest of your life, therefore quality should come first. In most cases, you get what you pay for, so be sure to take this into consideration.

I want a Tattoo, what is next?

I want a tattoo, but I am not sure what to get. Where do I start?

We always recommend to start with brainstorming on what you like and what you are passionate about. Also, it helps to look at photographs of different tattoos online or in industry magazines. Once you have somewhat of an idea, the next step should be to talk to a tattoo artist in San Diego.

What kind of tattoo should I get and where?

This is all a matter of personal taste. If you want a tattoo, make sure that its something you are going to like for the rest of your life. If you have some ideas but are not sure where to go next, it is always good to talk to a San Diego tattoo artist. He or she can help you complete your vision, draw a few designs and also recommend where on your body the tattoo should be placed. This is all dependent on your lifestyle and how visible you want your body art to be.

What is the best time of the year to get a tattoo?

You can get a tattoo any time of the year. You may have heard that it is best to get tattooed in the winter; however, this should not matter, as long as you stay out of the sun for a few days. Can I donate blood if I have a tattoo?

In general, people with tattoos can donate blood. But in certain situations, you need to wait a year before giving. That’s only the case if you live in a location where tattoo facilities aren’t regulated, the American Red Cross explained. Most states regulate tattoo facilities, but they aren’t regulated in D.C., New York, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Idaho, Georgia, Nevada, Massachusetts, Maryland, Utah, or Wyoming. So, if you have gotten a tattoo in one of these 11 locations within the past 12 months, you’ll need to wait until after that time to donate blood.

How long does tattooing take?

This all depends on the size and intricacy of your tattoo. Large tattoos are usually completed in several sessions. Smaller tattoos can be completed within one session. Your San Diego tattoo artist will let you know how many sessions you need and how long each session will last after talking to you about your desires. At Remington, San Diego tattoo shop, we try to work with your schedule. You can also choose to go at your own pace, depending on how soon you want your body art to be done and whether you want to add to it down the line. We’ll help you work out the details during your consultation at our San Diego tattoo shop.

What are the risks associated with tattoos?

The biggest risk associated with getting body art is selecting an artist who is not well trained and does not know what he or she is doing. Although this is rare, it does happen. So be sure to choose someone who has a track record of creating great body art. Another risk is dirty needles and tattooing equipment, which can lead to complications such as skin irritation and infection but this can be easily prevented by selecting a well-established San Diego tattoo parlor. At Remington we use clean equipment and have never had any of our clients experience problems after getting tattooed here.

However, as a precaution, your Remington tattoo artist will explain all of the risks to you during your consultation, so you can make an informed decision on whether to go forward with getting ink done.
